A Level Results Day Preparation

Year 13 students will now be eagerly awaiting A Level Results Day on Thursday 17th August. However, whilst some students will achieve their required results and immediately secure either their Firm or Insurance choices, others will either be placed in Clearing, or choose to release themselves into Clearing.

In 2022, record numbers of UK 18-year-olds secured a place in Clearing – 34,875, up from 26,305 in 2021 and 34,370 in 2019.

If you do not secure your Firm or Insurance offer, there will still be plenty of choices and routes into H.E. with around 30,000 courses available in Clearing.

Make sure that you are prepared. Get ahead by researching potential options ahead of results day. Speak directly to universities and colleges and use the range of personalised tools on ucas.com to explore all available pathways, including apprenticeships, before making your final decision.

You will find many online guides to Clearing, attached is just one example from Loughborough University. Take time to read it so that you thoroughly understand the process. Also attached is a link to university contact details for Clearing.

Make sure you are prepared with a potential Plan B for Results Day. Good luck to you all!
