The Art and Design Technology departments are running a trip to Dudley Zoo at the end of the month for Year 8 students, please see below for more details.

Art & Design: Dudley Zoo
Dear Parent/Guardian,
As part of your child’s Salter Scholar Programme, there is an opportunity for your child to take part in a trip to Dudley Zoo as part of the Art curriculum this year. Your child should arrive at GSA in their PE Kit on this trip date and should bring a packed lunch with them (if your child receives free-school meals, they will be provided with a packed lunch).
Date: Wednesday 29th March, 2023- G Band Pupils and Thursday 30th March, 2023- S Band Pupils
Departure Time: 9.30am- Both days
Return Time: 2.45pm -Both days
Travel type: Coach
Whilst on this trip, your child will have the opportunity to explore the zoo and the animals that they have, take primary source images and also take part in some workshops organised by the zoo linking to the environment and sustainability.
The total cost of this trip will appear on ParentPay and includes admission and transport. Your full payment total must be paid on Parent Pay by Monday 13th March and is non-refundable. Please ensure you also complete the consent form and medical information accurately on your Parent Pay account.

Salter Scholar Spring Term Guest Lecture – Wednesday 8th March
Dear parent/carer,
On Wednesday 8th March the academy will be hosting its second guest lecture of the year as part of our Salter Scholar programme. This will be delivered by Great Britain athlete James Dasaolu, who was European 100m champion in 2014 and represented Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics.
As part of this lecture, students will be required to be physically active while they participate in a short practical activity to reinforce the key messages of the day. We therefore ask that on this day only all pupils come to the Academy dressed in their GSA PE kit. This will maximise the time they have to participate in this session and ensure a smooth running of the day. Post 16 pupils will need to wear appropriate sportswear.
Please note that the kit worn by students in Y7-11 must be GSA PE kit and alternative forms of sportswear are not acceptable.
