A Level Results Summer 2023

Afternoon all,

George Salter Academy celebrates superb student achievements.

Students and staff at George Salter Academy are celebrating an excellent set of A Level results today, with many students now due to progress onto their chosen universities, apprenticeships and jobs.

The sixth form students at the school, which is sponsored by Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), have achieved some excellent results which reflect the hard work and commitment shown by the students throughout their studies.

Despite the ongoing disruption caused to studies by the pandemic throughout the last two years, it is fantastic that so many GSA students rose to the challenge and still attained the higher grades in such high numbers.  All of the grades awarded in Physics were awarded A*-A, over two thirds grade A to B in Art and one half or more of all grades in Business, English Literature and Law.  Post 16 Science and Maths courses are popular at the academy and it is especially good to see good results in these subjects that continue to improve still further.

Students across the academy performed well, with some of the individual standout achievements including:

Marichi Shemar who achieved an amazing four A* grades in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and EPQ.   This is a simply sensational success and we wish him all the very best at Imperial College London where he will be studying Mechanical Engineering.

Riana Kumar who was a Performing Arts star in our academy shows with her outstanding vocals and acting, achieved Distinction* in Music, Double Distinction in Performing Arts and a grade B in History.  We wish her all the very best at the prestigious Guilford School of Performing Arts.

Nathan Buensalido a multi- talented student achieved superb grades:  A* in Mathematics, A in Physics, A in Music Technology and a Distinction* in Music will be joining the RAF as a degree apprentice engineer.

Monique Carruthers who achieved A grades in English Literature and Sociology,  A* in EPQ and a  B in Art.  Monique will be studying Law at the University of Warwick.

Chloe Winspur who achieved A grades in both History and Biology and a B grade in Chemistry who will be joining University of Birmingham Medical School.

Yuvraj Sandhu who achieved one A grade and two Bs in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. Yuvraj will be studying  Pharmacy at  the University of Birmingham.

Saleha Begum who achieved an A in Business Studies, a B in Biology and a B in Chemistry.  Saleha will be studying Pharmacy at the University of Birmingham.

Dawson Kimberley, who always seemed to have a smile on his face and graduates from our post 16 Football Academy programme with three B grades in English Literature, Psychology and PE Studies.  Dawson will be studying Sports Coaching at the University of Birmingham.

We are proud of every student for their hard work over the last two years, and so pleased to see this reflected through some fantastic results. Our students have all been brilliant, but we would also like to thank their families, our staff, and the wider academy community for their ongoing and invaluable support.  Whether our students are going on to university, higher level study, or the world of work, we wish them all the best, and are sure they will have every success.
