For our Community
About Community Sport
George Salter Academy (GSA), located in Greets Green, West Bromwich, is a community academy in every sense of the word. Over the last 10 years GSA has worked hard to raise the aspirations of students and their families, and has consistently produced outstanding results at both GCSE and A-Level. However, the Academy recognises the wider role it has within West Bromwich, and proactively seeks opportunities to engage with community organisations.
One such way is through the extensive evening and weekend use of the Academy’s facilities. It is widely regarded as having excellent sports facilities , which can be hired at extremely competitive rates. GSA will soon be having both their small and large astroturfs refurbished into state of the art 3G pitches, these should be ready for both school and community use by September 2017. In addition, we have a recently refurbished 4-court sports hall furnished with brand new indoor cricket nets with overlooking classrooms, suitable for courses seminars etc. Outside we have 4 floodlit netball courts. For martial arts or aerobic activities, there is also a new Activity studio and a gym space. To complete the facilities we have 8 changing rooms, featuring individual shower cubicles.
It is not only the sports facilities that are used by the community however, with community organisations regularly using the Academy’s new theatre and dance studio as well as hall spaces and classrooms, which all feature interactive whiteboards and the latest IT equipment.
The Green Room theatre, capacity 400, is fully equipped to stage productions, presentation evenings, large seminars and meetings.
